Restorative dentistry is the branch of dental work that involves repairing broken, damaged or decayed teeth. It includes fillings, crowns, bridges and implants. Restorative dentistry restores the function and aesthetics of your teeth as well as preventing further damage. It aims to give you a strong and healthy smile. Restorations are often used for teeth which are damaged (due to wear or cracks), decayed or stained.

Just a regular dental filling! We use tooth coloured materials which bond to your natural tooth to restore function, form and aesthetics. These procedures are relatively quick, straightforward and affordable.

Crowns and bridges are a type of indirect restoration, ie. they are fabricated outside of your mouth and then bonded into place. They are made from porcelain, ceramic, gold, zirconia or lithium disilicate.

Crowns are custom-fabricated to fit perfectly to your tooth. They require preparation of the underlying tooth structure prior to placement. Crowns usually cover the entire tooth and provide additional strength to protect teeth from damage and decay while improving the appearance of the tooth. They are cemented in place to provide long-lasting support.

Bridges can be used to replace missing teeth. They generally require a crown to be placed on the tooth either side of the space, which support the replacement tooth (pontic). Talk to your dentist to see if this is an option for you.

Implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial root for a tooth. Once the implant fuses to the bone it is able to act as a rigid support for crowns, bridges or dentures. The implant process is lengthy and will often span over a few months before the final result is achieved. Once complete, the implant functions as a natural tooth with strength and durability.
